Would you consider updating PortableApps.com Platform App so that optionally only the system tray icon would be shown when it is run, without the button on the taskbar? Some may find this more comfortable and handy to use and this button would not take unnecessary space on the taskbar. I hope it can be done:-)
Flashing folders in Cubic Explorer. The bar that shows the drives is constantly flashing as if it's refreshing. I really like this program but the flashing is driving me nuts. Is there a way to stop it?
You cannot update a portable app in the installer itself except if you download it from your browser.
It only says "Connecting..." then it straight up go to the next app then says "Connecting..." again until the list is finished, but, it did not download anything and just gives me an error......

I use portableapps platform for updating portableapps apps, and when i start the platform it takes some time to list all the apps on my disk, i like to request the portableapps team to add an option to disable app listing on startup. maybe reload the listing when a new app is found only.

Whenever i update the portableapps platform, it always install on the root path of the disk, i don't like this because i put all the apps including the portableapps platform in "D:\apps".
I like to request the portableapps team to add an option to use a custom path to install the platform.

I am using windows 8, 63 bit with the portable app installed in a folder on the desktop and is a brand new version created on 14.1 with exe disabled and firewall/antivirus running. When trying to install the apps from store it says successful and completed but the apps do not appear anywhere on the computer or in the portable apps menu. The manually downloaded apps crash after booting the app. Currently am using the files as bat due to problems with security settings with the exe.

I would like to make an encrypted boot USB drive with Portable Apps. So that if I lose the drive it cant be accessed by anyone.
Ive searched around and cant find a way to do this. I have tried installing PA on my drive and then encrypting it but cant figure this out either.

I got an error message since I moved from PortableApps.com Platform version 11.2 to version 14.1. I am using Windows 7 64 bits. My portable apps are on a USB keys (USB 2.0, 32Gb; USB 3.0, 16Gb; USB 3.0, 64Gb). On the 64Gb key, the version 14,1 was directly installed, no upgrades. Note however that this error doesn't block the use of the all PortableApps keys. The results when I do the start is :
1) Error windows 'PortableApps.com Platform' appears
Message: "The specified module could not be found, ClassID: {56FDF344-FD6D-11D0-958A-006097C9A090}.
2) The scan for Apps Icon does not occur and the automatic "Check updates" is not occuring also.
Do you have any idea how can this problem be solved?

Lately, when I've tried running the backup function from the PortableApps menu option, it starts running but never completes. I eventually kill the process, which seems to tend to leave some sort of corruption on my flash drive, necessitating the running of chkdsk on the drive to fix any errors.
Platforms: Windows 10 (at home) and Window 7 (at work) - both never complete.
Drive: 64GB Silicon-Power USB3 with about 43GB used.
Backup options: Complete, backup directory on C: drive, 7z format, Show details selected (also fails to complete with Show details deselected).
By never complete, I mean that the backup status window is still displayed at the same level of completion (I'd estimate the green status bar indicates about 80-90%) after the process has been running for 4 hours to as much as 8 hours (8 or greater when I've started the backup to run over night and it is still sitting there at 5:30 AM the next day when I'm ready to pull my drive out of my home computer and take it to work).
Having regular backups is critical I'm sure anyone would agree.
I tried turning off my anti-virus last night and selecting Show details to see if that would provide any helpful information. Not much that I would consider helpful appeared in the details window. The last 2 lines were:

I checked for Portable Apps updates today. The updater reported that there was an update for PortableApps Platform 14.2 and it's 4MB in size.
Fine. Update it. I have never had problems with this Portable App in the past.
The updater downloads and then automatically starts the installation process.
It is just a matter of seconds and then I get this error:
Window Title: NSIS Error
Window Text: (X) Error launching installer
If it matters, I do not run my Windows 7 x64 laptop using a login with "administrator" level access. The standard login I use is that of a "user", as defined by Windows 7.
The error can currently be repeated "at will" just by running the updater and trying again and again.

I'm looking to use PortableApps to allow my end users to be able to run fonts without the need to keep coming to me asking me to install them. I know PA can do this and I'm keen to deploy but I don't want the users to be able to download and run apps, bit of a conundrum I know considering it is what PA does!
So my question is:
Am I missing an option to disable App installation or is that well beyond the scope? Alternatively I have deliberately made the connection settings wrong so it can't connect but of course this throws an error message.
Is there another programme altogether I could use to allow users to run fonts without granting them Admin rights if we can't remedy the above?
Any help would be appreciated.
Since updating to version 14.2 the theme which I have changed PortableApps to is not saving. I move between two different computers frequently throughout the day, my personalization settings are not traversing the two computers or saving between moves. PortableApps keeps starting the the default grey theme no matter which machine it is starting on.
It is also continuously bringing up the 14.2 update notes and donation request each time PA starts.
Any ideas?
I've just noted the following error - after upgrading PAI from 3.4.1 to 3.4.2, the installer's launcher displays 3.4.1 rather than 3.4.2 for some reason. This is not the case when installing 3.4.2 directly.
Does anyone else see this behaviour?

[EDIT] I thought maybe that the version number was hard-coded somewhere, although I felt it was unlikely, and as expected couldn't find the value of "3.4.1" when doing a NP++ "Find in Files" search in the PAI directory.
Maybe the launcher needs to be regenerated for 3.4.1 > 3.4.2?

After replacing the launcher exe temporarily with a "clean" 3.4.2 launcher, the incorrect value goes away, and comes back when the original launcher is put back in place. It appears the original launcher exe isn't deleted on upgrade. I'm reclassifying this as a bug report accordingly.

I get this error when i close the Portableapp.com Platform about miising windows component. This happens when i try to play youtube video from firefox portable (that doesn't have flash plugin on plugins folder). I also don't have flash installed on my computer. I have UAC disabled.
Tried with clean install of Portableapps.com Platform. Copied the folders of the different portable apps to the new installation folder, but the error still occurs.

Can anyone suggest a good (by which I mean "actually works"), portable backup program, ideally one with some support attached. If it's good, I don't mind paying for it. I've tried the PA platform backup; when it repeatedly failed to complete and I posted a request for some help, I was advised not to use it (?). I've tried Toucan, which also fails, and for which I can't seem to get any answers as to how to debug and correct. So, again, alternatives are sorely needed as I'd like the process to be as painless as possible once set up (i..e I don't want to sit at my computer dragging and pasting in Explorer every other night), and, as we all know, backups are critical. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

I have been using Portable Apps (PA) for many years now and found an interesting difference between using it @ work and on my home networks.
Let me set up with the environments:
1) Work is behind FWs and content filters that are beyond my control (I have tried this at SEVERAL different work places so it seems a common issue).
2) Home is an open network behind a firewall that I control.
3) All PA applications are installed @ all times.
4) Updates are attempted through the PA Update facilities.
5) Additional PA configured Apps are installed (About 10 that I personally tested & built).
6) Get new Apps is run.
Here are the differences:
@ Home... All works as expected and individual NEW applications that require install are listed.
@Work... (I presume that a firewall/content filter intercepts the request), ALL applications installed or not are listed with installed applications GRAYED OUT.
Any thoughts? What site is being accessed that may be blocked? Is there a way to prevent this without attempting to access a commonly blocked URL/Website/IP?
